If the performance is high, usually they are complicated to learn and use.
If they are easy to use, the performance typically suffers.

Since our foundation 30 years ago, ANILAM has been preferred by many operators because of its capable products that are easy to learn and use. ANILAM was one of the pioneers in both conversational programming and in using a PC-based platform. It is the PC-based platform that allows the user-friendly interface.

Machine Tool control performance, though, is about real time processing. The more computations that can be made in a period of time, the faster, and more accurately, the Machine Tool will cut. That is why higher end controls typically are based on micro-processors or digital signal processors (DSP). Such processors are not burdened by all the handling of the user interface that the PC-processor has been optimized for. The DSP is especially suitable for real time processing because of the way data and instructions are handled separately and in parallel.

With all this clearly in mind, and with the objective to provide a high performance system without making it any harder to use, it was only natural for ANILAM to base our new generation of controls on a combination of a PC-processor and a DSP. The PC will handle the user interface, basic block processing and manage various machine functions. The DSP is dedicated to the motion control.

So, with ANILAM it is not just a buzz-phrase. With ANILAM, High Performance and Ease of Use is not a contradiction. We do it by combining the unique advantages of the PC and the DSP. We do it with our well appreciated programming language, allowing machinists to communicate with the control in their own language. And what's more, ANILAM's new design has an integrated CAN-bus controller for Inputs and Outputs. The result is more flexibility leading to easier and more capable machine intergration
