How to replace the rubber tire on Grob 4V series saws 1) remove the pulley from the saw 2) strip all old rubber and glue from the pulley 3) make or find a round plug that can fit in a bench vice and the center hub of the pulley 4) place the pulley on the plug and clamp the plug horizontally in the vice 5) brush new glue into the groove on the pulley. Grob recommends 3M #1357 rubber cement 6) clean the new tire with mineral spirits or paint thinner 7) stretch the new tire onto the pulley this may need two people 8) before you let got of the tire, place a metal rod or screw driver shank between the tire and the rims on the pulley 9) holding the rod or screwdriver stationary, rotate the pulley about 3 revolutions to equalize the tension on the pulley 10) remove the rod or screwdriver 11) make sure the tire is seated into the groove all the way around 12) clean any excess glue 13) let the glue dry, minimum 5-6 hours, preferably overnight. |
