General Info & FAQ's
Spider Cool Automated Coolant Nozzle for CNC machines What exactly is SpiderCool ?

SpiderCool is an Automatic Coolant Nozzle System for machining centers. A closed loop servo motor automates the coolant stream. SpiderCool memorizes where coolant is aimed on each tool, then adjusts automatically while the machine is running. The system consists of a nozzle assembly with closed loop servo motor, a control unit, a remote adjustment knob, cabling, and mounting hardware. The nozzle assembly is fastened to the machine’s head, oriented so the coolant stream is aligned to the spindle centerline. The machine’s existing coolant pump is plumbed to the unit and Coolant ON-OFF commands are used normally.

Standard, medium high pressure ( up to 250 PSI) and high pressure systems ( up to 1000 PSI) are available.  They are compatible with coolant through the spindle systems as well.

Adjusting knob of the SpiderCool automated coolant nozzle system How do you program SpiderCool ?

The machinist simply teaches SpiderCool by turning the adjustment knob to precisely aim the coolant stream. This is done once for each tool in the machine. From that point on, coolant adjustment is automatic. There are no M-Codes to write into your program, and adjustments can be made and re-memorized at any time during the machining cycle.

The standard systems have 99 memory / tool positions.  This can be expanded for machines with larger tool magazines

How does SpiderCool know which tool is in the spindle ?

Transparent to the machine operator, SpiderCool uses a Patent Pending Intelligent Interface to monitor the tool changer. This interface supports Carousel, Double Arm Random Pocket, Single Arm, and Pre-Load pocket style automatic tool changers.

Who needs SpiderCool ?

Companies interested in maximizing productivity, unattended machining, minimizing downtime, reducing tooling costs, and improving safety, should strongly consider adding SpiderCool.

What machines need SpiderCool ?

New or existing Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers with automatic tool changers will benefit the most. Machines without tool changers, such as Horizontal Boring Mills, Planer Mills, and Large Verticals will also benefit from SpiderCool.

Options:

AutoDrill Option:
AutoDrill feature provides a perfect solution for hole drilling and side milling with longer endmills. This feature allows
you to set an upper and lower coolant position for any individual tool(s). The coolant stream will continuously sweep
between the two positions.
This provides excellent coolant coverage over the full cutting length of the tool rather than a single point.

Expanded Tool Memory:
The standard Spidercool has memory for 99 tool length positions. The memory expansion option allows for use on some machining centers with larger tool magazines.
Medium High Pressure Coolant:
An upgraded coolant pump with pressures up to 250 PSI
High Pressure Coolant:
An upgraded Spidercool unit, external tank, transfer pump and high pressure pump up to 1,000 PSI.
